2023 Local Election Candidates

The Liberal Democrats are standing in 21 seats in Bromsgrove. A new record for the party, with an increase of 7 candidates on the last Bromsgrove District Council elections.

Bromsgrove's Lib Dems candidates are as follows:

Aston Fields - Martine Reynolds

Bromsgrove born and bred, former secondary school teacher and in more recent years, an unpaid carer, Martine has lived in the town for most of her fifty years. She has raised and had her family educated here.

Martine knows only too well the concerns we share because she has been listening to residents tell her on the doorstep and in the street. Martine is striving for a better Bromsgrove and for residents' voices to be heard.

Avoncroft - Dr David Nicholl

David moved to Bromsgrove when appointed as an NHS Consultant over 20 years ago, his 3 children all went to local schools.

David is backing the 'Four for Fourth' manifesto not least protecting the Green Belt. David knows the area around Stoke Prior and Stoke Pound is beautiful and it is vital that the environment and surrounding area is protected for generations to come.

Bromsgrove Central- Siobhan Robinson

Siobhan has lived in Bromsgrove since the age of 3 and grew up attending local schools including North Bromsgrove High School, where she regularly performed concerts and musicals at Artrix.

Siobhan has been representing Bromsgrove Central for the last 4 years, in which time she has been working as a teacher, has bought a house in central Bromsgrove, got married and had a baby girl.

Siobhan would love to be re-elected to continue to serve the residents of Bromsgrove Central and work to further improve the area.

Charford - Gill Bell

Gill and her family have lived in Bromsgrove for over 20 years.

She works as a GP in Redditch, her husband David is a teacher and they have an adult son. Together they are passionate about improving access to health care services and education.

Lickey Hills - Janet King

Janet has represented Lickey Hills for the last 4 years, having been a parish councillor for 20 years.

She campaigned successfully with residents to retain local bus services 202 and 145 and stopped the demolition of Wadderton in Greenhill.

Janet is working to reopen Artrix, giving a voice to our villages, standing up for the Green Belt, creating safer local roads, reducing traffic congestion and decarbonising Bromsgrove by 2040.

Norton and Lickey End - Robert Hunter

Rob moved to Bromsgrove as a child and went to North Bromsgrove High School. He now lives in Bromsgrove with a young family of his own and works full time in the rail industry.

Rob has represented Norton and Lickey End for the last 4 years and leads the Lib Dem group on Bromsgrove District Council.

Rob is backing the Bromsgrove Lib Dem manifesto "Four for the Fourth" and is particularly interested in improving our local environment and tackling traffic congestion.

Lowes Hill - Joshua Robinson

Josh is proud to have served the community in Lowes Hill through his role as county councillor for Bromsgrove Central for the last two years. Josh wants to use what he has learnt to continue to serve residents as a district councillor as well.

Josh lives in central Bromsgrove with his wife and 1-year-old daughter and is passionate about improving our local high street, having previously worked on it for eight years.

Josh has a passion for Bromsgrove High Street and tackling traffic in Lowes Hill.

Perryfields - Joanna McKenna

Jo lives in Bromsgrove with her family and works as a doctor in the NHS.

Jo is committed to finding real solutions to traffic congestion before any more new overspill housing is built. She is backing the Lib Dem campaign for Bromsgrove District Council to undertake an independent assessment for traffic relief options, following the Council allowing houses to be built on the proposed site of the Western Relief Road.

Sanders Park - Vanessa Verlinden

Vanessa is proud to have called Bromsgrove "home" for over 15 years now and she understands the potential for our area. Vanessa is working to see Artrix open up again, and getting people back enjoying our town and spending money on our High Street.

Vanessa is campaigning for a cleaner and greener Bromsgrove and she feels strongly about supporting more eco-friendly initiatives such as better public transport and active travel opportunities.

Sidemoor - James Clarke

A long journey has brought James to Bromsgrove via Scotland, London and France. This wide experience has shown James what is available elsewhere and makes James determined to ensure our local community enjoys the same level of service and development as other areas. James moved to Bromsgrove in 2010, and he sent his children to local state schools. James has managed and coached junior football teams in Catshill and now runs his own business.

James wants to pay back into our community and use his passion and skills to build a better future for the people and town of Bromsgrove.

Slideslow - Samuel Evans

Harwood Park resident Sam Evans is standing for the Slideslow ward. Sam grew up in Bromsgrove and attended local schools of Finstall First School, Aston Fields Middle School and South Bromsgrove High School.

He has been working hard for the residents of the Oakalls, Parklands and Harwood Park listening and acting on their concerns and priorities. As a campaigner Sam has a record of action, getting signs, potholes and more fixed and he is looking forward to delivering more for residents if he is fortunate to represent Slideslow on Bromsgrove District Council.
