Council criticised for failing to install adequate HGV warnings
Worcestershire County Council has come under fire for failing to install signage warning HGVs in adequate timing before a restricted height bridge between the Oakalls and Finstall.
Local Lib Dem Councillor Sam Evans has been raising the issue to the County Council for years with HGVs getting stuck on the road. The issue has been exacerbated with the ongoing Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme and recently a resident's wall was damaged when a HGV was forced to reverse.
This month another HGV got stuck causing significant traffic delays.
Councillor Evans recently asked the Reform UK administration at Worcestershire County Council to review Highways approach and asked for signage warning HGVs well before they enter the Oakalls, as the only existing signage on the side of the Oakalls is placed on the mini roundabout before entering Stratford/Alcester Road.
In response, the County Council stated that the existing signage is "positioned correctly" and that "installing additional advance signs further away from the bridge would not improve compliance".
Local Lib Dem Councillor Sam Evans is calling for Highways to rethink its approach and take a more common sense view.
